Microcosmos

When the outbreak arrived, the quarantine was necessary. The notion of time has been lost and the control over the simplest actions dissolved. The reality has become colder due to the suspension of physical interactions and doubtful since here in Brazil we have been living a sort of dystopian prelude of George Orwell’s novel.

As a result, from this scenario the Microcosmos project emerged, pursuing the inner universe through the oneiric perspective of trivial objects around home. Inconstant and contrasting feelings originate a silent, nostalgic, mysterious and sidereal reinterpretation. The lack of colors intend to let the message be as clear as possible.

The representations might be resemblances, like the Milky Way Galaxy inside a cup of coffee or molecules inside the hand sanitizer bottles. These invoke figurative meanings, like a highlighted page symbolizing knowledge or a brightness at the bottom of the washing machine representing an exit.

There are also contemplative associations, such as shower water drops depicting an abstract expressionist painting, or the movement of bubbles from an antiseptic bottle describing a spiritual relationship of admiration to natural phenomena, such as the rain, chased by the romantic art movement that emerged at the end of 18th century.

The idea of this project is to channel the anxieties, aspirations, and the void from the isolation and take them to a creative refuge. It is to give purpose to this suspended time that feels like a perpetual Déjà vu. It is to grant the soul a brief comfort and a deep breath.
