São Paulo Neo Noir

The concept of this essay is not to depict the metropolis as a documentary work. Rather, search for references in the past in order to create a possible image of the future, using the mysterious and somber atmosphere of “Neo Noir” genre as conceptual basis and aesthetics. The series has been created using a “Lo-Fi” film camera that is well known for its technical limitation and unpredictability, and an accessory called Splitzer which allows the camera to expose only a part of the frame per shot, originating multiple exposures with more controlled overlaps straight on 35mm film. The film processing has been based on experiments using chromes and negatives in Cross and Push Processing techniques aiming to achieve a futuristic and oneiric environment.
